About Us
In the Mix-Detroit LLC is a collective force of Farmers in Detroit, Hamtramck, and Highland Park who are making an impact on the Frozen Foods industry. We are a company that is moving sustainably grown crops into the frozen food product line. We harvest and produce our vegetables utilizing a licensed facility and omit many of the harmful sprays used to preserve frozen food that travel long distances. We are also proud to distribute and market frozen food products that come from organic seed. We have committed ourselves to being highly productive and people-oriented. Most importantly we are innovative, competitive, and strongly focused on meeting the needs and the satisfaction of our customer base.

About Our COO
Imani S. Foster, COO was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan. After graduating from Cass Technical High School, she attended Wayne State University. Imani started her career in urban agriculture as a Crew Leader with the Student Conservation Association. She then began working with Greening of Detroit to address blight via lot remediation, focusing in Detroit’s Brightmoor neighborhood. Imani went on to become Market Coordinator for Keep Growing Detroit’s Grown in Detroit program, where she found firm footing and a welcoming spirit. Every Saturday for 13 years Imani could be found in Shed #2 of Detroit’s Eastern Market, coordinating sales and acting as a liaison between Detroit’s farmers and gardeners and Eastern Market shoppers. She built a successful market system based on core values: integrity, innovation, compassion, and advocacy for the economic growth and stability of the gardeners and farmers that participated in the Grown in Detroit program.
Imani’s dream was to uplift the Black gardeners and farmers in Detroit, and provide a direct pipeline into the frozen food industry. She began a partnership with Michigan Farm to Freezer to develop In the Mix - Detroit, a Black-owned farming and processing cooperative.
Imani is now COO of In the Mix - Detroit and a founding worker/owner of the Black Bottom Garden Center, where she and her team bring plants, gardening supplies, and educational resources to Detroit’s community of growers.
